Call2Recycle Celebrates 25 Years


25 years ago, five U.S. battery manufacturers formed the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) to responsibly collect and recycle rechargeable batteries. Since then, more than 150 million pounds of batteries have been collected and recycled across North America through our program. We’re thankful to all those who have played a role in advancing battery recycling and look forward to celebrating this milestone over the coming year!

The Home Depot Hits 10MM Pound Battery Recycling Milestone


A program participant since 2001, The Home Depot recently marked a major milestone as the first U.S. Call2Recycle retail partner to recycle 10MM pounds of rechargeable batteries. We spoke with Tiffany Seto, The Home Depot’s Manager of Environmental Sustainability, about what this achievement means to the business. Read the milestone story to learn more. 


2018 Leaders in Sustainability 


We’re excited to recognize our 2018 Leaders in Sustainability, a distinction that honors Call2Recycle participants that collected more than 10,000 pounds of batteries over the last year. Awards will be going out to recipients in the coming weeks, aligning with Earth Day. We appreciate the support of all our partners and congratulate our 2018 Leaders in Sustainability!

Collection Site Spotlight: Leon County


Collection partners are a major program touchpoint as their community efforts drive the responsible recycling of batteries. We’re shining our collection site spotlight on Leon County, which operates a permanent HHW facility that services Tallahassee alongside three rural satellite facilities. Richard Lobinske, HHW Facility Manager for Leon County, shared the impact of the program in our most recent collection site story.
